CHURCH MUSIC CONFERENCE
A professional organization made up primarily of ministers of music serving churches of the Georgia Baptist Convention, the group also includes other local church music leaders, such as bi-vocational music ministers, children's choir directors, organists, pianists, and instrumental/handbell directors, as well as denominational music leaders of the Georgia Baptist Convention, and music faculty in colleges and universities associated with the Georgia Baptist Convention.
The annual meeting of the Conference features a guest clinician/conference speaker who specializes in a major area of interest for church musicians. Other features of the annual meeting include worship, choral music reading sessions, worship concerts, and fellowship time. During the refreshment break times, members may visit the Exhibit Area staffed by representatives from music products, resources, and services.
The objectives of the Georgia Baptist Church Music Conference are to -
- Promote effective ministry through music in all churches of the Georgia Baptist Convention
- Encourage spiritual and musical growth among Georgia Baptist musicians and educators
- Encourage Christian fellowship among Georgia Baptist musicians and educators
- Provide leadership in the development and coordination of special programs of music at the state, district, and regional levels
- Give necessary assistance to the Music and Worship Ministries Department of the Georgia Baptist Convention
